A huge congratulations to Taylah Laval (Year 12) who participated in the 2015 Australian Gymnastics Championships this past week. Taylah placed 2nd in her Vault event, her team placed first overall and Taylah has qualified for the Australian team. We wish her all the best for her training and upcoming competition in September in New Zealand.

The Intermediate winter Beachside round robin was held on Friday 29th of May. Mrs Mathews took 4 teams to compete in the Badminton tournament, Ms Parker’s A and B netball teams won their competition as did Mr Day’s soccer team. The soccer and netball teams will be playing in a Regional Preliminary Final against the Dandenong Region on Tuesday 14th July. Thank you to the staff and student-coaches for their efforts in picking the squads and training the girls. Go Mentone
On Tuesday 26th May we had an incredible 72 students compete in the Beachside Cross Country carnival at Braeside Park. The track measured a bit longer than the expected 3km however our runners took it in their stride and ran superbly. We have a staggering 40 students going on to compete in the Southern Metro Regionals at Ballam Park in Frankston on June 15th. Congratulations to all athletes and the remarkable six Berntsen and Byrne sisters who will represent the school at the next round. Go Mentone
Our Senior girls participated in the Winter round robins on Monday 11th May competing in badminton, basketball, soccer and hockey. Congratulations to the soccer students for moving onto the Southern Metro Regionals on July 27th. A big thank you to Ms Lizzy Ingold, Mrs Ekaterina Xanthopoulos, Ms Eva Bell and Mrs Leah Liakos for training and coaching the girls. Go Mentone
Paige Price, Elizabeth Mewett, Vanessa Slamin and Eva De Bruijn won the Year 7 Tennis competition at the Southern Metro Regionals on Friday 8th May. Well done to an outstanding effort reaching the State Finals which will be on Friday 20th November. Thank you to Ms Peach, and Jaime Garbellini and Nikki Stobie (Year 9) for coaching the girls.
The Intermediate team unfortunately lost in the Regionals but competed right till the end. Thank you to Ms Kosack for taking the girls. Go Mentone On Thursday 7th May the Junior and Senior Football teams competed in the Beachside round robin. Playing in wet and windy conditions both of the A-teams were successful throughout the day and won all of their games. The Junior team star was Nikki Stobie who was consistent throughout all of her games and the Senior team star was Emma Hilton who dominated in all games kicking 8 goals. Both teams are competing in the Southern Metro Regionals on July 30th. Well done to all competitors for representing MGSC with such talent and enthusiasm. Go Mentone
